Macroalgae For Marine Reef Aquariums: Tan Spiny Gorgonian ecosystems

Spiny Gorgonian (Muricea laxa)

A beautiful photosynthetic gorgonian that features a  tan or white coloration. It features stiff, sometimes spiny branches that remain erect with tan polyps. Gorgonians regularly shed tissue to remove buildup of sediment and algae from forming on their skeleton. All photosynthetic gorgonians require 4-5 watts per gallon to thrive. Like many corals it also filter feeds, so weekly feeding is recommended for optimal health. We offer single specimens mounted on reef plugs that range from 6-8" tall.

This species is running small right now as they all died off last summer due to the heat wave. Most specimens will be about 5" tall.
